The NHL Trophy, also known as the William M. Jennings Trophy, is presented annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) goaltender(s) who have played a minimum of 25 games for the team with the fewest goals scored against it during the regular season. The trophy was first awarded in the 1981-82 season and is named after former NHL Governor William M. Jennings. The award is based on a regular-season team statistic and is not open to fan voting. The NHL Trophy is considered one of the most prestigious awards for goaltenders and is often viewed as a sign of team defense. In the history of the NHL, goalies Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur have won the trophy the most times, with five wins each.
